Ocean Match guide: plan swaps, cascades and remaining moves

Read the goal before making a move

Ocean Match contains 40 levels. Each shows a score target and a remaining-move counter. Board size and the number of creature types vary by level configuration. Check the two counters first so you know what completing the level requires.

Make a valid swap

Swap two pieces that are adjacent horizontally or vertically. A row or column of three or more matching pieces clears. In the current implementation, a swap that creates no match is rejected without spending a move.

How cascade scoring works

Each clearing round awards the number of cleared pieces multiplied by 20 and the current cascade multiplier. After pieces fall and new ones enter, another match can continue the cascade. Your choice controls the initial exchange; subsequent drops change the position, so a specific number of cascades is not guaranteed.

Compare before choosing

- Count the pieces a move clears immediately. - Consider which neighboring pieces may come together after the cleared pieces leave. - Check whether a direct move is already enough to reach the target.

Two ordinary three-piece matches can lead to different positions. Nevertheless, do not overlook a simple winning move while waiting for an imagined perfect cascade.

Use hints with the right expectation

A hint marks a currently valid swap. It is a way to find a legal move, not a promise of the highest-scoring one. If the board has no legal match-producing swap, the game refreshes it. The tools also let you retry the current level or return to unlocked levels on the map.

Keep an eye on remaining moves

Reaching the target completes the level and advances progress. The current star calculation uses moves remaining: at least 10 gives three stars, at least 5 gives two, and any other completed level gives one. Focus on finishing first, then revisit a level to look for more efficient choices.

Understand the save location

Unlocked levels, stars and best scores are stored in this browser on this device. Clearing site storage or switching browsers may lose that local record. This guide does not describe it as a cross-device cloud save.
