PARALLELA WORLD OF YOUR OWN
PARALLEL ORIGINALS / Practice project

A silhouette study with one jacket

Observe hems, layers, and silhouette without treating any body shape as a standard.

Name the intended feeling

Choose a word for the outfit: crisp, soft, loose, or layered. This describes an intention, not a judgment about your body. Keep the same jacket throughout the exercise and change only the layers around it.

Change one hem at a time

Hide the inner hem first, then reveal a little of it, then try a more obvious length difference. Stand in the same place for each comparison. If you also change colors and accessories, it becomes difficult to understand which decision made the difference.

Treat the pictures as drafts

The comparison photos need not be public. Place them together and choose the one that best fits your starting word. One sentence explaining the choice completes the exercise. The result does not have to become a rule for anybody else.

Make it a small practice

  1. Keep the jacket, camera position, and light consistent.
  2. Make three different relationships between the hems.
  3. Choose one and explain how it connects with your intended mood.
