PARALLELA WORLD OF YOUR OWN
PARALLEL ORIGINALS / Practice project

Give an outfit a story card

Use color, a setting, and one object to explain a look in your own words.

Start with a setting

Choose a setting: a bookshop after rain, a harbor at dusk, or a weekend without plans. The setting is a way to decide whether you want the look to feel relaxed, quiet, or vivid. It does not require pretending to be somebody else.

Choose three explainable details

Keep three details on the card: a main color, a silhouette, and a small object. Add a reason for each. If an element is present only because everyone else seems to use it, remove it temporarily and see whether the remaining choices are easier to explain.

Let words add something to the image

The photograph shows what you chose. The text can explain why. Instead of listing every visible item, share a detail the picture cannot reveal, such as why you have kept a particular jacket for so long.

Make it a small practice

  1. Name a setting in one sentence.
  2. Give a reason for a color, a silhouette, and an object.
  3. Write a caption that adds information rather than an inventory.
