A stamp for the future
A composition diagram for this exercise, not a photograph.

Choose something worth keeping

The stamp need not summarize the entire future. Choose one thing you hope will remain: a night with visible stars, a place to borrow books, or a path you can walk slowly. State it in one clear sentence.

Make the image work small

At palm size, keep one main form and a few supporting elements. Try a version without text to see whether the subject remains readable. The wording need not explain every part of the picture.

Give it a name

Add a short name and an invented catalog number. Do not use official postal markings to suggest it can pay for mail. This is an art project for your journal or a post about the future you imagine.

Make it a small practice

  1. Name one small thing you hope the future keeps.
  2. Use one main form in a palm-sized composition.
  3. Name it and identify it as your own art stamp.
